About Mala
I’m Mala Deep, a data scientist, researcher, and educator from Dolpa, Nepal. I started teaching before I had impressive credentials. I taught because I had something to share and people who needed it. Over the years that has grown into something I never quite planned, a mission to make every medical professional in Nepal data-informed.
I have taught doctors, nurses, public health researchers, and students across Nepal and the UK. I have run 4 to 6 week intensive training programs for medical professionals through NMA and JNMA, and worked with researchers connected to WHO. I have stood in front of rooms of clinicians who thought data science was not for them — and watched them leave knowing how to analyse their own research.
My teaching has covered more ground than just Python and statistics. I have taught design psychology, human-computer interaction, data visualization, research writing, AI tools, and business strategy, because I believe data work is not a single skill.
